Month: November 2003

  • I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving (you know you did if you were lucky enough to go home!)!!!  No need to pity us left-behinds however, for we joined forces and had a Thanksgiving of our own…dysfunctional, yes, but really fun (Spencer:  “mic check”).

Lunch:  My day started with a Thanksgiving lunch with Sylvia and Stan who are both so great to me.  Thanks a lot guys!  Too bad we sat in the airplane-air-smelling corner, eh?

Dinner:  Thanks must go to Brandon who actually made most of the Thanksgiving dinner, even though Darren and I did stir, which we all know is absolutely crucial to the making of any holiday meal (Note:  Mercilessly insulting the cook is also crucial).  Dinner was really great, and I suffered from a major food coma afterwards.  So I just lied down as the guys played video games including DDR!  Check the link on the bottom of this entry b/c I posted a video of Brandon’s feet as he plays, as well as some other older videos of the guys across the street and my Dancha!

OH!  OH!  I must make mention of this:  1) I was the only girl at the party which was really weird b/c it was a pretty big party.  2)  Brandon’s friend Darren was also there, which was really freaky for me because get this:  Darren and I went to the same elementary school (Aina Haina), like I distinctively remember him so when he walked into the apartment I screamed “OMG!  I went to elementary school with you!”

Coincidences like this have been happening a lot to me lately and it just goes to show how small the world is…take a look at this list…

    1.  My Writing 140 teacher (Arsiyanti Ardie) took a class with my roommate Char BEFORE I KNEW EITHER OF THEM.

    2. I became good friends with a guy named Evan in High School and I found out just recently that he and Char were good friends in 8th grade.

    3.  I met a guy named Bruce through Julie and he told me a story about how his roof was leaking.  A few days later, I met Brandon through Char and he also told me that his roof was leaking!  It turns out, Brandon and Bruce are roommates!!!

    4.  I went to Aina Haina Elementary School with Darren and then never saw him again after that.  I saw him for the first time in NINE YEARS at yesterdays party b/c he was Brandon’s guest.  He and Brandon have been friends for nine years!

Aiyah, if that’s not freaky I don’t know what is!!!

Look at how ghetto Brandon looks…in an apron covered in ducks…Meh-heh-heh-heh

Here’s the link to see the DDR video (his feet actually tear a hole into the pad, watch for it, then laugh heartily…like this, “AHAHAHAHAHA”):

  • **JUICY GIRLS!**

  • I’ve had such a great few days!  OMG, but now I have a math MT tomorrow so no more fun…(sadness).  Ok, it started on Thursday when I saw THE PRODUCERS!  For those of you who don’t know about The Producers…

Based on the classic 1968 film, The Producers tells the story of broadway producers Bialystock and Bloom who scheme to make money by producing the biggest flop stage show (Springtime for Hitler) in history.

Alright, I know this description is a little dry, but I couldn’t find a better one.  Anyway, the show was F*CKING AWESOME!  It was HILARIOUS!  There was one point where Martin Short and Jason Alexander were just fooling around and adlibbing everything.  It started when Martin (playing Bloom), and Jason (playing Bialystock) are sitting on a couch, and then Martin purposely slips onto the floor and Jason is trying to help him up, but Martin is just dead-weight, and Jason is really struggling to help him up.  Between his huffing and puffing, Jason wheezed out, “If only I had upper-body strength,” and “okay, screw the lines.”  All the while the audience is going wild, it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

At the end, the whole audience got a real treat.  The cast comes out and they all are applauded, etc, then Jason says, “we don’t usually do this but, we hear there is a special guest in our audience tonight.  And this man has been very influential in both Martin and my careers so if he could, we would like him to stand up…is DICK VAN DYKE in the audience?”

OMG, it was so awesome to see him!  Oh, the night was just so perfect…Julie and I got free water…HAHAHAHA!  YAY!

    See for yourself…

I know this pic is bad b/c the person taking it wasn’t very good.  But I like it b/c we all look like vampires b/c our eyes are glowing!

Pointy Fingers at The Producers!  I love you guys!

Yesterday I had another great night when I went to Santa Monica with Char, Loris, Caroline, and Nick.  We met up with some other people I don’t really know, but we all split up to see different movies.  Char and I went to see Brother Bear b/c we’re pathetic nerds who like that sort of stuff.  It was a cute movie, but not exactly the best work I’ve ever seen.

    AHHH THE FOBBYNESS!

Me and Loris PF!  YAYYYYYYY!  The Pointy Fingers spreads…

So that’s about it.  I have to go study now b/c like I said, I’m pathetic and I like that sort of stuff.  Oh yeah, here is a picture my parents just sent me of my sweet six-year old Pomeranian Dancha right after he got a bath so he’s all clean and fluffy!  EEEEEE!  KAWAIIIIIIIII!

    STUDY TIME!  WISH ME LUCK!

  • I’ve got an macroecon MT on Tuesday and Daniel is coming today to borrow a book I haven’t read yet so I have to keep this entry short.  I’m really tired right now and it always feels like every week there is some test to study for or some fun event that I want to go to (but shouldn’t).  So…(sigh) there is no rest for the weary.

Last week was hell for me.  I studied from Sunday until Wednesday afternoon for my Oceanography MT (which was stupid considering I’m taking it pass/fail), which left me only Wednesday night to Friday afternoon to study for Accounting.  OMG, I should have budgeted my time better b/c hello?  Accounting versus Oceanography…no contest…Ocea–ACCOUNTING!  ACCOUNTING!!!  But I think everyone agreed that this test wasn’t as bad as the last one, but still…it was hard…and there weren’t as many questions so if you get one wrong you lose a lot more points.

Yesterday (after my mandatory beach fieldtrip for Oceanography) Daniel, Tiff, and I went shopping and Century City and then saw Elf.  Believe it or not, I think all three of us liked that movie.  I mean, who doesn’t love Will Ferrel?  The man, is HILARIOUS!  We all left the theatre feeling happy and all Christmas-y on the inside.

    Random pictures…from many random times…

OMG TIFFANIE!  SOME MYSTERIOUS NINJA IS GOING TO STAB YOU!

The next pictures are from a stats/dinner party Tiff and I threw…

Julie totally immersed in the basketball game.  GO YAO!  REPRESENT!…Can I write a check?

Tiff and Jason pretending to be friends…I MEAN!  Huh?  WHERE AM I?

    Jared…passed out…wearing a skirt…yeah, I don’t know what’s going on either…and where is his hand going?  UGHHH….

HALLOWEEN!  Due to the shame Tiff and I will always have, we never left each other’s side that day.  It isn’t so bad dressing up as long as you have someone with you!  YAY!  PARTNERS IN CRIME!

The dirty beach I went to for Oceanography yesterday.

A seastar from that dirty beach.  Oh, this reminds me.  Some people at the fieldtrip were being such big assholes!  They were poking the animals with their pencils and some of them actually took LIVE ANIMALS out of the water and took them home!  Needless to say, these animals died UNNECESSARILY; and the GREED, CRUELTY, and IGNORANCE of some people still disgusts me.

Is it a dream?  NO!  THE POINTY FINGERS RETURN (Lord of the Dance style!).  I think it goes without saying that yes, I was the coolest person at the beach that day.

    AAAAAAHHHHH STUDY TIME!
